About
How we check our content
Gas engineers need advice they can trust. This is how every GasInsider guide is made.
Where do our facts come from?
We research each guide fresh and link to the sources we used, with the date we checked them. We prefer primary sources:
- The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), including the gas safety regulations and their guidance
- Gas Safe Register
- GOV.UK, including the Building Regulations
- IGEM (the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers) and British Standards
- Manufacturers' installation and servicing instructions
- Awarding and training bodies for qualifications and ACS
If we can't confirm a regulation number or a figure from a source, we say so rather than guess.
Who writes the guides?
We use AI to help research and draft. Every guide is then checked against its sources before it goes live.
What do the dates mean?
Published is when a guide first went live. Last checked is when we last reviewed it against its sources. We only change it after a real review.
Is this a substitute for the regulations?
No. Our guides explain and summarise. Gas work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer competent for that work. Always follow the regulations, the manufacturer's instructions and current industry guidance.
